Captain (Retd) Sohail Chaudhry has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Islamabad Police, according to sources.

He will replace Ali Nasir Rizvi as the capital’s police chief. The leadership change comes as Rizvi prepares to take up another senior position.

According to the available information, Ali Nasir Rizvi is set to become Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

Sohail Chaudhry Brings Policing Experience

Captain (Retd) Sohail Chaudhry has extensive experience in policing and law enforcement. He has served in several important positions during his career.

Much of his professional experience comes from the Punjab Police. His previous assignments involved traffic management, operations, counterterrorism and crime control.

Chaudhry previously served as Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore. The position gave him experience in managing traffic operations in one of Pakistan’s largest cities.

He later served as City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad. This role involved overseeing policing and law enforcement operations across the city.

Key Positions Held in Punjab Police

Captain (Retd) Sohail Chaudhry has also worked as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore.

In that position, he handled major operational policing responsibilities in the provincial capital.

He also served as DIG of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab. His work at CTD added counterterrorism experience to his professional profile.

Chaudhry later served as Regional Police Officer (RPO) Multan. The position involved supervising policing matters across the region.

These appointments have provided him with experience across different areas of law enforcement.

Leadership Change in Islamabad Police

As IG Islamabad, Sohail Chaudhry will lead policing operations across the federal capital.

His responsibilities are expected to include maintaining law and order and supervising crime-control operations. He will also oversee the overall functioning of Islamabad Police.

The appointment brings a senior officer with extensive field experience to the capital’s police force.

Meanwhile, Ali Nasir Rizvi is expected to move to the NCCIA as its Director General.

The NCCIA focuses on investigating cybercrime and other offences involving digital platforms and technology.

The leadership changes place both officers in important law enforcement positions.

Chaudhry’s previous experience in operations and counterterrorism will form an important part of his new role in Islamabad.
