In a shocking incident, Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar of Islamabad’s Industrial Area Zone reportedly ended his life while on duty near the Serena Hotel. According to Express News, the officer took this tragic step after receiving a suspicious phone call, sparking widespread concern within the law enforcement community.

Initial reports suggest that SP Akbar used a service weapon belonging to one of his subordinates. He was immediately rushed to Polyclinic Hospital before being shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where doctors confirmed his death.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement about the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Islamabad Police stated that a detailed inquiry is underway to determine the cause and sequence of events.

SP Adeel Akbar was a highly respected officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP). He had recently assumed charge as the head of Islamabad’s Industrial Area Zone. His academic credentials included an MPhil in Governance and Public Policy from the National Defense University (NDU), Islamabad.

Over the course of his distinguished career, he served in multiple districts across Balochistan, where he led several police divisions. His professional background encompassed expertise in security management, community policing, human rights protection, counter-terrorism, and crisis response.

The tragic death of SP Adeel Akbar has left colleagues and citizens deeply saddened. His passing underscores the emotional and psychological challenges often faced by law enforcement officials working under extreme pressure. Authorities are expected to issue a formal statement soon, providing clarity on what led to this heartbreaking event.
