Gilgit-Baltistan police have arrested two main suspects in connection with the Qazi Nisar attack, which took place on October 5, 2025, leaving six people injured.
IGP Ali Nawaz Butt confirmed that the mastermind behind the Qazi Nisar attack has been identified as Naeem Abbas. Several facilitators involved at different stages of the operation have also been taken into custody.
According to police, a total of 11 terrorists were involved in the Qazi Nisar attack. This includes nine attackers and two facilitators. During a security operation following the incident, one terrorist was killed on the spot.
The IGP stated that the arrested suspects are residents of the Roundu district in Baltistan Division, while a key facilitator resides in Jalalabad, Gilgit. Both main accused have confessed to their involvement during police interrogation.
Police have released the names, photographs, and confessional statements of the suspects. IGP Butt confirmed that all individuals involved in the Qazi Nisar attack have been identified, including those still at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
Calling the breakthrough a result of coordinated efforts, IGP Butt highlighted that close cooperation between police and other security agencies was key to the success.
He emphasized that there is no place for terrorism in Gilgit-Baltistan. โAll institutions are working in full coordination to ensure the safety and security of the public,โ Butt said, reaffirming the governmentโs commitment to combating terrorism in the region.
The arrests in the Qazi Nisar attack case mark a significant step toward justice for the victims and underscore the ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in Gilgit-Baltistan. Security agencies continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any further threats.
