A major controversy has erupted in India as extremist ministers clash with retired military officers over the army’s failure in Operation Bunyān Marsūs. Reports suggest that heated criticism has emerged from both sides, with the army’s former officers defending their institution against political attacks.
Retired Major General Shrivastava condemned the statements made by Madhya Pradesh ministers Vijay Shah and Jagdish Devda, accusing them of insulting the armed forces. He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi take action against those disrespecting the military, calling Modi’s silence shameful.
The issue intensified after criticism was directed at Colonel Sophia Qureshi. Former officers labeled her a source of national pride and questioned the Modi government’s motives behind attacking such decorated personnel. They warned that turning military institutions into political tools is a dangerous move.
Defense analysts also weighed in, claiming the Indian army’s defeat in Operation Bunyān Marsūs exposed its media-driven reputation. They added that Pakistan’s forces handled the conflict with superior professionalism, further damaging India’s military image.
