The Punjab Tourism Department has officially announced the Thal Desert Rally 2025, scheduled to take place from November 6 to 9. The event will transform the desert landscapes of Layyah, Kot Addu, and Muzaffargarh into a lively hub of motorsports, culture, and tourism.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the Lahore Museum, where Secretary Tourism, Archaeology & Museums Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, shared details about the rally. Organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Thal Desert Rally 2025 is a key initiative under the “Magnificent Punjab” Tourism Revival Vision.
Dr. Bhutta highlighted that the rally goes beyond motorsport, serving as a powerful cultural and economic catalyst for South Punjab. He said the event aims to promote the desert’s unique heritage, traditional crafts, folk culture, and Sufi-inspired identity.
He also confirmed that the Punjab Police, Rangers, Rescue 1122, and the Health Department will be deployed to ensure strict security and efficient emergency response during the four-day event.
Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) Managing Director Asim Raza announced that nearly 100 drivers will participate this year, including female racers and renowned champions such as Mir Nadir Magsi, Sahibzada Sultan Muhammad Ali, Zain Mehmood, and the Khakwani Brothers.
The Thal Desert Rally 2025 will not only feature high-speed racing across the dunes but also offer visitors a vibrant cultural experience. The festival will include folk music performances, camel and horse shows, tent-pegging contests, artisan bazaars, and desert heritage displays — all celebrating the adventure and beauty of South Punjab.
With its blend of sports, heritage, and tourism, the rally aims to attract both local and international visitors, boosting the region’s economy and showcasing the best of Punjab’s desert culture.
