In a series of concerning security breaches, multiple theft incidents have been reported across Islamabad — including inside the high-security Diplomatic Enclave, residential police blocks, and areas housing Safe City Authority equipment.
Safe City Equipment Stolen in G-9/2
Thieves stole equipment belonging to the Islamabad Safe City Authority from Street No. 11, G-9/2, approximately 1.5 kilometres from the Karachi Company Police Station.
The theft was discovered during a routine inspection when a technician found a broken lock on a utility pole. Upon checking, a battery worth Rs. 35,000 was reported missing.
Authorities suspect the incident occurred overnight. A case has been registered, and investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects.
Police Barracks Robbed Inside Diplomatic Enclave
In another shocking incident, mobile phones and cash belonging to nine police officers were stolen from the Special Protection Unit (SPU) barracks located within the heavily guarded Diplomatic Enclave.
A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Secretariat Police Station under Section 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The stolen items included multiple mobile phones and cash:
- Tecno Spark 10-C – Rs. 15,000
- Samsung A-14 – Rs. 20,000
- Vivo Y-55 – Rs. 25,000
- Vivo V-2043 – Rs. 20,000
- Vivo (model unspecified) – Rs. 30,000
- Additional Vivo phone – Rs. 20,000
- Cash – Rs. 26,000
The affected officers were identified as Mohammad Hayat, Mohammad Husnain, Azmat Khan, Naseer Ullah, Rozi Khan, Shafi Ullah, Imdad Ullah, Nasir, and Mohammad Usman.
Authorities are now investigating how intruders managed to enter a restricted Red Zone area undetected.
Burglary in Police Block, G-6
A third theft incident occurred in the CDA Flats, G-6/1-6, where burglars broke into a police block apartment and stole several household items, including a police uniform, laptop, and washing machine.
The complainant, Syed Hamza Ali, reported that the locks of his flat had been broken. Police teams, including female officers, reached the scene after he called the helpline.
During the inspection, officers discovered an unidentified woman inside the flat, but she managed to escape before being apprehended.
Investigation Underway
Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into all three incidents. Forensic teams have collected evidence, and footage from Safe City cameras is being reviewed to trace suspects.
The recent surge in thefts — especially within high-security and law enforcement zones — has raised serious concerns about security protocols in Islamabad.
