LAHORE: The Lahore Traffic Police has announced a comprehensive Traffic Plan for the 983rd annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh Ali Hajveri (RA). Special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth traffic flow during the three-day religious event.
According to the official advisory, SSP City Zone Maqsood Loon will supervise the traffic operation throughout the Urs. The authorities have prepared an extensive Traffic Plan to manage the expected increase in visitors around Data Darbar.
To implement the plan, the Traffic Police has deployed five DSPs, 111 traffic inspectors, and 900 traffic wardens across the city. These officers will monitor vehicle movement and assist motorists throughout the event.
Authorities have also arranged 15 forklifts and four breakdown vehicles. These vehicles will remove illegally parked or broken-down vehicles to prevent congestion on busy roads.
As part of the Traffic Plan, five designated parking stands have been established for visitors attending the Urs. Officials have requested citizens to use only the approved parking areas to avoid inconvenience.
Milk supply vehicles, handcarts, and rickshaws will be allowed to access the Sabeels through Azadi Flyover and Peer Makki. This arrangement has been made to maintain the smooth supply of essential services during the celebrations.
Several roads around Data Darbar will remain closed for security reasons. Kachehri Chowk, Bhati Chowk, and the road from Peer Makki to Data Darbar will stay closed to all types of traffic during the Urs.
Traffic diversions have also been announced to reduce congestion. Vehicles travelling from Shahdara towards Lower Mall will be diverted from Azadi Chowk towards Railway Station.
Another alternate route for traffic coming from Shahdara to Lower Mall will pass through Niazi Shaheed Chowk, Bund Road, and Saggian.
Motorists travelling from Chauburji Chowk towards Lower Mall and Data Sahib will be diverted from MAO College to alternative routes.
Vehicles arriving from the Inner Circular Road will be able to continue through Mori Gate, Urdu Bazaar, and Kachehri Road.
Traffic will not be allowed to enter Lower Mall from District Courts Chowk, the corner of the DIG Operations Office, or the R/O Gate of Government College University.
Similarly, vehicles coming from Retigan Chowk, Bilal Ganj Chowk, Beri Wala Chowk, and Mori Gate will not be allowed to move towards Data Darbar.
Authorities have also restricted traffic entering Lower Mall Road from Taxali Chowk, Mori Gate, and Azadi Chowk during the event.
Motorists travelling from Shahdara towards Upper Mall have been advised to use the route via Railway Station and Press Club to avoid delays.
