Traffic Plan Issued for Islamabad and Rawalpindi Ahead of Pakistan-Australia ODI

Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a special advisory for residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi ahead of the Pakistan-Australia ODI series starting May 30. Authorities have announced a temporary Traffic Plan to manage expected congestion in the twin cities.

According to officials, the Traffic Plan includes temporary diversions on major roads. These will be implemented at different times on Club Road, Murree Road, the Expressway, and Srinagar Highway. The measures may cause slow traffic flow during peak hours.

Police officials said the arrangements are necessary due to the high number of visitors expected for the cricket match. The ODI will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Traffic pressure is likely to increase across surrounding areas.

Citizens have been advised to plan their travel carefully. Under the Traffic Plan, commuters are requested to leave their homes 20 to 25 minutes earlier than usual. This will help avoid delays during diversion timings.

Authorities also recommended using alternate routes and service roads. These alternatives will remain open to reduce inconvenience for daily commuters. The Traffic Plan aims to maintain smooth movement in both cities despite increased rush.

The spokesperson confirmed that traffic police personnel will be deployed at key locations. Their duty will be to guide drivers and manage road flow. Special teams will also monitor congestion and adjust diversions when needed.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official channels. Islamabad Traffic Police will share updates on WhatsApp, social media platforms, and FM 92.4 radio. These updates will help people follow the latest Traffic Plan changes in real time.

Officials added that the advisory is part of routine measures during major sporting events. Similar arrangements have been made in the past to handle large crowds.
