Pakistan Railways has announced plans to restore two more train services in the coming months.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced the decision as part of efforts to revive suspended operations.
The Mohenjo Daro Express is scheduled to resume operations on September 15.
Pakistan Railways will also launch a train service between Sialkot and Rawalpindi on October 15. The railway administration has received instructions to prepare for the restoration of both services.
Officials have been directed to complete all necessary arrangements before the announced dates. The move aims to improve Rail connectivity and provide more travel options for passengers across the country.
Suspended Train Services to Return in Phases
Abbasi said the government plans to restore suspended trains gradually.
According to the minister, Pakistan Railways is working to bring more discontinued services back into operation. The phased restoration could improve access to railway transport for passengers in different regions.
The Mohenjo Daro Express will be among the next services to return to the network. Its restoration is scheduled for September 15, subject to preparations by the railway administration.
The new Sialkot-Rawalpindi service will follow one month later. It is expected to begin operations on October 15.
The service will provide another Rail connection between Sialkot and Rawalpindi. Further operational details, including schedules and ticket information, are expected from Pakistan Railways.
ML-1 Project Reaches Final Planning Stage
Abbasi also provided an update on the Main Line-1 project, commonly known as ML-1. He said planning work on the major railway project had reached its final stage.
ML-1 is considered an important project for improving Pakistan’s railway infrastructure. According to Abbasi, the project will bring significant changes to the country’s railway system.
The minister did not provide further details about the final timeline in the announcement. Pakistan Railways has been working on several measures to improve passenger services and strengthen its network.
Restoring suspended trains forms part of the wider effort to increase operational services. Improved Rail services could also provide passengers with additional transport choices between major cities.
The railway administration will now focus on completing preparations for the two announced services. Passengers are expected to receive more information as the respective launch dates approach.
