LAHORE, July 7, 2025  A tragic incident occurred in Shahdara, Lahore, where an underage driver ran over three motorcycles, leaving one person dead and three others injured, according to ARY News.

Police confirmed that the accident was caused by reckless driving. The underage driver, identified as Hashir, reportedly lost control of the car and struck multiple motorcycles. Hashir has been arrested and formally charged in connection with the fatal crash.

The victim who lost his life has been identified as 30-year-old Muhammad Amin. The case was filed after a complaint by his brother. Authorities stated that Amin died at the scene, while the three injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has taken serious notice of the accident. He issued orders to crack down on underage driving across Punjab, stressing that unlicensed minors should not be allowed on the roads under any circumstance.

The IG Punjab also directed strict action against the parents of underage drivers, reinforcing a zero-tolerance policy on traffic violations such as overspeeding, overloading, and wrong-way driving.

To improve enforcement, IG Anwar instructed police to use Safe City cameras to identify underage drivers and track violations in real time.

It’s important to note that in 2023, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ruled that underage drivers should not be kept in lockups. Justice Ali Zia Bajwa had also directed that minors be granted bail instead of being detained, even when caught driving without a license.

This latest incident follows a deadly accident in November 2023, when six members of a family, including two infants, were killed by another underage driver, prompting the Lahore traffic police to begin a citywide crackdown.
