WASHINGTON: The United States reaffirmed its unwavering support for Pakistan’s efforts to overcome the economic crisis on Tuesday, while also advising the country to be cautious about its interests. At a State Department news briefing, Spokesman Matthew Miller stated that the US will continue to engage with Pakistan to strengthen trade and investment ties and promote economic development and growth. However, the US also stressed the importance of transparency, sustainable financing practices, and the preservation of national and data security to ensure mutual benefit for Pakistan and its partners.
Regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), US officials had previously warned Pakistan about the potential risks of increased debt burden, corruption, and job relocation to China. While Mr. Miller was less specific in Tuesday’s briefing, he emphasized the need for Pakistan to be careful about its engagement with CPEC.

Additionally, the US has urged the Taliban not to allow terrorists to use Afghanistan as a base for attacks in Pakistan or any other region. This issue was raised during US-Taliban meetings in Doha, and the US has consistently emphasized the importance of preventing Afghanistan from becoming a safe haven for terrorists.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also called on Kabul to take action against militant elements using Afghan soil for attacks. He highlighted the importance of cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan in combating terrorism, acknowledging Afghanistan’s capacity issues regarding terrorism.
The United Nations Security Council expressed its support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism, calling on all states to cooperate in this effort. UN Secretary-General António Guterres also conveyed solidarity with Pakistan and urged the authorities to bring those responsible for terrorism to justice.
In the wake of recent events, the US conveyed heartfelt condolences to the people of Pakistan and assured the country of its solidarity during these difficult times.
