A young couple, who had recently married of their own free will in their native village in Gujranwala, was found shot dead in Karachi’s China Port area, police confirmed. The bodies of a man and a woman, both believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, were discovered in a desolate coastal area. Authorities confirmed that both victims had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Syed Asad Raza, shared the tragic details of the discovery. The victims were found with spent bullet casings scattered nearby, indicating that the shooting took place in the isolated location. The police are currently investigating the incident as a targeted attack.
DIG Asad Raza revealed that the police were in contact with the authorities in Gujranwala, where the couple had gotten married. They also reached out to the families and friends of the victims to gather more information. According to Mr. Raza, the police suspect that the couple might have been targeted by someone close to them, someone they trusted. This suggests that the shooting may have been a crime of betrayal.
While the investigation is still ongoing, police have promised to take swift action. An FIR (First Information Report) will be filed on behalf of the state against the killer once they are identified.
