Former Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan has been appointed as the mentor for the Afghanistan cricket team ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be held in Pakistan.
Known for his exceptional batting skills, with over 10,000 Test runs, and for leading Pakistan to victory in the 2009 T20 World Cup, Younis brings invaluable experience to the Afghan team. He previously worked with Afghanistan as their batting coach in 2022 during a training camp in the UAE.

Beyond his role with Afghanistan, Younis has held several coaching positions, including serving as Pakistan’s batting coach during their 2020 tour to England, mentoring Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League, and coaching the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is confident that his guidance will boost the team’s performance in the upcoming tournament, and he is set to join the squad shortly before the Champions Trophy begins.
