Pakistan’s ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan reaches 2.8M on Tiktok in 1 day

LAHORE, Pakistan — Imran Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister, has joined TikTok, a hugely popular short-video sharing app, to build ties with the public.

Khas has been charged in several cases since his dismissal in a no-confidence vote last year. However, after the May 9 episodes in which his followers stormed military sites, the noose was tightened around him and his party officials. Several PTI leaders have left the party since then.

To keep the people engaged, the former premier joined TikTok, where he received an amazing response, with over 860k followers in a single day.

He has posted a video with footage from his public appearances and speeches. “Our social media team shows me incredible TikTok clips made by youth from all over the country.” “I’ve decided to join this platform in order to connect with you all,” he said in the caption.

PTI reported on Twitter that Imran Khan’s TikTok account had 100,000 followers within the first three hours of joining the platform.
