Court Extends Bail in Multiple Cases
The Islamabad courts reviewed various cases involving Bushra Bibi and PTI leaders regarding the November 26 protest, granting extensions in interim bails.
Bushra Bibi’s interim bail for a case filed at Ramna police station was extended until February 17. The hearing, overseen by Additional Sessions Judge Aamir Zia, included a plea from her lawyer, Ansar Kayani, requesting exemption from in-person appearance.
Her legal counsel argued that, given her incarceration in the £190 million corruption case and detention at Adiala Jail, the police should conduct her interrogation within the jail premises. The court accepted the plea and extended the bail, adjourning proceedings until February 17.
The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) also examined cases related to the November 26 protests, hearing 86 interim bail petitions. A total of 15 cases registered at various police stations were processed during the session.
The court granted exemption requests for Bushra Bibi, Alia Hamza, Zartaj Gul, and other PTI leaders. Her lawyer also urged the court to permit her interrogation inside the jail and instructed the Adiala Jail superintendent to facilitate the process.
