A district and sessions court on Tuesday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in multiple cases.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka granted the extension, continuing Imran Khanβs bail in six cases and Bushra Bibiβs bail in one case until October 7.
The court also prolonged the protection order preventing Khanβs arrest in cases linked to the May 9 incidents, attempted murder, and protest demonstrations. The decision provided temporary relief to the PTI founder, who remains entangled in several legal battles.
Meanwhile, Bushra Bibiβs interim bail in the Toshakhana case, which involves allegations of fake receipts, was also extended. However, the court did not announce a verdict on her other bail applications. Arguments on Imran Khanβs petitions also remained incomplete.
The judge remarked that a joint ruling would be delivered regarding the bail applications of both Khan and Bibi. Legal experts say the decision reflects the courtβs cautious approach to handling multiple overlapping cases against the PTI leadership.
Advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry represented the PTI founder, who faces several cases registered at different police stations, including Tarnol, Karachi Company, and Kohsar. The charges range from violent protests to criminal allegations tied to political unrest.
This is not the first time the court extends interim bail of Imran Khan, as the PTI founder has repeatedly sought legal protection amid growing cases against him. His supporters argue that the charges are politically motivated, while authorities maintain they are based on evidence.
The latest decision ensures that the court extends interim bail of Imran Khan until early October, giving his legal team more time to prepare arguments. Observers believe the outcomes of these cases will significantly impact Pakistanβs political landscape in the months ahead.
