Ishaq Dar Engages in Key Diplomatic Talks with Germany, Egypt, and Algeria

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a phone call with German Foreign Minister Dr. Johann Wadephul on Wednesday night. Both leaders reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen bilateral cooperation and maintain regular high-level contacts. They also discussed key regional developments and shared views on enhancing strategic ties.

Earlier this week, Ishaq Dar also met with the foreign ministers of Egypt and Algeria on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) extraordinary session in Jeddah. During talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, he emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with North African nations. He called the discussions a “meaningful interaction,” stressing the importance of brotherly relations across economic, cultural, and political fields.

The meetings also focused on the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The three ministers called for an immediate ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian aid, and long-term peace in Palestine. They highlighted the importance of Muslim unity in addressing Israel’s ongoing military campaign.

At the OIC session, Ishaq Dar strongly condemned Israel’s actions, describing them as “annexationist and rogue.” He warned that attempts to seize Gaza City posed a serious threat to regional stability. He presented a seven-point action plan for Muslim states and the international community to ensure peace and security in Palestine.

Pakistan also supported a joint statement by 31 Arab-Islamic countries rejecting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks on “Greater Israel.”

During his two-day visit to Jeddah, Dar met Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, praising Türkiye’s leadership as OIC chair. He also held discussions with senior diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Malaysia, and Bangladesh, underlining Pakistan’s broader commitment to regional peace and cooperation.
