LESCO Extends Bill Payment Deadlines for Consumers Affected by Floods

LESCO Extends Bill Payment Deadlines for Consumers Affected by Floods

LAHORE – The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced an extension in electricity bill payment deadlines to support consumers affected by recent heavy rains and flooding. The move aims to ease financial pressure on households and businesses struggling due to the natural disaster.

According to LESCO officials, the extension will be granted on a batch-wise basis, focusing first on the areas hit hardest by the floods. Under company policy, consumers are allowed a maximum of two extensions for bill payments.

In the first phase, the extended deadline for bill payment has been set for September 25. If bills remain unpaid by this date, consumers will be given a second extension until September 29.

Officials clarified that penalties would apply after the extended deadlines. A five percent surcharge will be charged for non-payment by September 25, while a 10 percent penalty will be imposed if bills remain unpaid after September 29.

The facility will also cover tube well connections, which is expected to provide significant relief for agricultural consumers. Farmers have faced major challenges due to the floods, and this measure is aimed at reducing their financial burden during the crisis.

LESCO stressed that the decision is part of its broader effort to support customers during emergencies. The company emphasized that the extensions are temporary and designed to help consumers make payments without unnecessary stress.

Officials urged consumers to take advantage of the facility within the given time frame to avoid penalties. They also reassured the public that the company remains committed to providing uninterrupted services despite the difficulties caused by the heavy rains.

The extension reflects LESCO’s efforts to balance revenue collection with compassion, ensuring that consumers are not unfairly pressured during an already difficult time.
