ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Navy on Sunday in connection with Navy Day, observed on September 8. He described Operation Dwarka during the 1965 war as a shining chapter in naval history.
In his message, Mohsin Naqvi said Navy Day is dedicated to honoring the sacrifices and achievements of the βcourageous sons of the sea.β He praised the sailors who defended Pakistanβs maritime frontiers with unmatched bravery and commitment.
Naqvi recalled that during the 1965 war, the Pakistan Navy not only safeguarded the nationβs sea borders but also struck a decisive blow against the enemy. By targeting vital coastal installations in Operation Dwarka, the Navy forced adversaries to abandon their plans of attacking Karachi.
He noted that the fearless sailors who took part in the operation are the true heroes of the nation. Their courage and sacrifices, he said, remain a lasting symbol of bravery, professional skill, and devotion to duty.
Highlighting the Navyβs present-day role, Mohsin Naqvi said it has evolved into a modern and effective maritime force. He pointed out its advanced missile systems, technological progress, and growing self-reliance. The minister also mentioned the Navyβs leadership role in regional maritime security, participation in international naval exercises, and strong diplomatic engagements.
βThe nation stands proud of its maritime guardians who have made Pakistanβs sea frontiers impregnable through professionalism and strategy,β the interior minister remarked.
Officials noted that Navy Day serves as a reminder of Pakistanβs naval strength and the enduring spirit of its sailors. The tributes paid reflect the deep respect for those who continue to safeguard the countryβs seas.
