Karachi : July 8, 2025:
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed a full-scale operation against the hawala hundi mafia, smuggling networks, and human traffickers across Pakistan.

During his visit to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Karachi Zone, Naqvi chaired a high-level meeting. He instructed officials to arrest major players involved in illegal money transfers. He said no pressure should stop the crackdown.

Naqvi stated that the hawala hundi mafia harms the national economy and supports criminal activity. “There will be no leniency,” he warned, urging immediate and strict action.

He also expressed serious concern about human trafficking. The minister highlighted the practice of sending beggars abroad under false job promises. He called it a disgrace to the country and ordered that such agents be arrested. He also told officials to detain deported beggars on their return.

In the same meeting, Naqvi called for strong measures against counterfeit medicines. He described their sale as a serious threat to public health. “Those selling fake medicines belong in jail,” he said.

The minister further directed the FIA to curb the movement of non-custom paid goods. He stressed the need for tighter checks and enforcement. He also ordered strict legal action against passengers trying to carry more than $5,000 without proper clearance.

FIA Karachi Zone Director Noman Siddique briefed the minister on recent operations and challenges. He also shared updates on financial crimes and smuggling investigations.

Naqvi assured the FIA of full government support. He stressed better coordination between agencies to dismantle the hawala hundi mafia and other organised crime groups.
