PM Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on Monday to review relief and rehabilitation efforts for rain and flood victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During the session, he announced that the federal cabinet will donate one month’s salary to support affected families.
The prime minister stressed that public service must come before politics in such difficult times. He assured that financial compensation will be provided to families of the deceased and other victims under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package.
Directives for ministers and departments
PM Shehbaz instructed federal ministers to personally oversee relief distribution and rehabilitation efforts in flood-hit areas. He emphasized transparency and efficiency in providing aid to those in need.
He also directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to finalize an assessment of damages and submit a detailed action plan for aid distribution. In addition, the Ministry of Finance has been told to release required funds immediately, while the Ministry of Health will dispatch medical teams and essential medicines to the affected regions.
Rescue operations and damages
According to the official briefing, more than 400 rescue operations have been completed so far. Authorities have also set up 46 relief camps to provide shelter to displaced families. Property damages are currently estimated at over Rs125 million.
Commitment to victims
PM Shehbaz reiterated that federal ministers will remain present in the field until every affected citizen receives assistance. He further pledged that rehabilitation will continue until basic infrastructure in the affected areas is fully restored.
The premier’s directives underline the government’s commitment to ensure swift relief and transparent distribution of aid to flood-hit communities.
