PM Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian have expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in Pakistan-Iran relations. Both leaders pledged to expand political and economic cooperation during their recent meeting.
The talks were held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin. The two leaders reviewed bilateral ties across various sectors, highlighting opportunities for deeper collaboration.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistanβs commitment to its historic relationship with Iran. He described the bond as rooted in shared culture, history, and faith. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in political and economic fields to benefit both nations.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, and senior federal ministers. Their presence reflected the importance Pakistan attaches to its partnership with Iran.
President Pezeshkian praised Pakistanβs consistent support and reiterated Iranβs determination to strengthen ties in areas of mutual interest. He also expressed condolences over the recent flood-related losses in Pakistan and assured that Iran stood by Pakistan during this challenging time.
During the conversation, PM Shehbaz recalled the Iranian presidentβs recent visit to Pakistan, noting that it was warmly received by the Pakistani people. He said the visit played a vital role in enhancing bilateral relations.
The prime minister also stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective path toward achieving lasting regional peace and stability. Both leaders agreed to continue engaging closely on key issues affecting the region.
This renewed commitment highlights the shared vision of Pakistan and Iran to work together for stronger political, economic, and cultural cooperation in the coming years.
