Senator Irfan Siddiqui Fighting For His Life on Ventilator Amid ‘Severe illness’

A worrying development has emerged in Pakistan’s political scene as senior PML-N leader and Senator Irfan Siddiqui has been placed on a ventilator following a severe health crisis. The news has sparked concern among political circles and the public alike.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry confirmed the situation in a social media post, describing Irfan Siddiqui as a respected political figure and urging citizens to pray for his speedy recovery. Chaudhry emphasized that the lawmaker’s deteriorating health has deeply saddened colleagues across party lines.

Irfan Siddiqui is currently serving as Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and is the parliamentary leader of the PML-N in the Senate. His critical role in national politics has made his health condition a matter of serious concern.

Born and raised in Punjab, Siddiqui has been serving as a Senator since March 2021, with his tenure set to continue until 2027. Before joining active politics, he built a distinguished career as a journalist and political analyst, known for his sharp insights and balanced commentary.

Throughout his career, Siddiqui has held several important positions, including Special Adviser on National Affairs to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Press Secretary to former President Rafiq Tarar. His work has often focused on Pakistan’s political and social issues, earning him widespread respect across the media and political spectrum.

In 2024, he authored PTI and Pakistan: From Cypher to Final Call, a collection of 56 Urdu columns that examined the political evolution of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the country’s shifting political landscape.
