Court Orders Blocking of PTI Leaders’ Passports Over Nov 26 Protest

ISLAMABAD – The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for PTI leaders, including Sheikh Waqas Akram, and blocked the passports of senior party figures Omar Ayub and Zartaj Gul. The actions are connected to cases stemming from the party’s November 26 protest.

During the hearing, ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra reviewed multiple cases against PTI leaders accused of involvement in protest demonstrations. Sheikh Waqas Akram was declared absent and non-compliant with previous court summons, prompting the issuance of his arrest warrant.

The court also ordered relevant authorities to immediately block the passports of Omar Ayub and Zartaj Gul. Officials have been instructed to submit a compliance report on the passport restrictions before the court.

The judge emphasized the importance of timely follow-up and directed all parties to appear at the next hearing, which has been scheduled for December 3.

These orders represent the latest development in the ongoing legal proceedings against several PTI leaders who are facing allegations related to violations during the November 26 protest. Authorities say the measures are part of broader efforts to ensure accountability and compliance with court directives.

Political analysts note that these actions could impact the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of upcoming political activities. The legal proceedings against PTI leaders remain under close observation, with parties and supporters watching developments closely.

Officials have reiterated that the arrests and passport blocks are procedural steps in accordance with the law. The court has assured strict monitoring of compliance and scheduled further hearings to address any challenges or objections raised by the defendants.
