Reham Khan Launches New Political Party, 'Pakistan Republic Party'

In a significant development for Pakistan’s political scene, Reham Khan, journalist and former wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has announced the formation of her own political party—Pakistan Republic Party. The launch took place at the Karachi Press Club, where Reham outlined her party’s vision to challenge the ruling elite and amplify the voices of ordinary citizens.

Speaking passionately about the need for political change, Reham Khan said her party aims to address real public concerns and hold the powerful accountable. She emphasized that the formation of the Pakistan Republic Party is a direct response to the growing discontent among the public, with many feeling disconnected from the current political establishment.

Karachi: A Symbolic Launch for Reham Khan’s Political Journey

Reham Khan chose Karachi as the city to launch her political career, acknowledging the support she received from the Press Club during her most challenging times. She stressed that her political path is driven by public service, a commitment to sincerity, and the promise of accountability.

Reflecting on her personal journey, Reham shared that her experiences with the BBC in 2012 and her time spent with her mother in Pakistan have deeply shaped her understanding of the country’s issues. “I have seen Pakistan from 2012 to 2025,” she said, adding that the deprivation and lack of basic services in the country were major concerns.

Reham’s message resonated with the public as she recalled a moment when a child advised her not to become like other politicians. She assured the audience that her party would represent the neglected regions of all provinces, emphasizing that the voice of the underprivileged will no longer be ignored.

Pledging Political Reform and Accountability

Reham Khan also voiced her concerns over Pakistan’s deeply polarised political climate. She criticized the overwhelming influence of TV debates and feudal dominance in governance. According to Reham, widespread issues like inflation, sugar price hikes, and poor tax regulation are evidence of the system’s failure to address the needs of the people.

In her concluding remarks, Reham vowed that the Pakistan Republic Party would fight against dynastic politics, stating that “Only five families control the assemblies today.” She promised to introduce a new form of leadership—one focused on public service rather than personal gain.

With the launch of the Pakistan Republic Party, Reham Khan is positioning herself as a key player in Pakistan’s political future, promising to bring about meaningful change in the country’s governance.
