Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat has confirmed his return to the party following a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned.
After his visit to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Marwat addressed the media, stating that he met Imran Khan after a three-month hiatus. He noted that Khan received him warmly and they discussed various matters during their conversation.

Marwat also revealed that he has been tasked with organizing a public gathering on August 22, with PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan present to oversee Khan’s directive regarding the event.
Expressing his gratitude to Khan, Marwat announced his reconciliation with the party and apologized for any previous remarks made against party leaders. He emphasized his commitment to organizing peaceful public gatherings and distancing himself from any violent protests.
This development follows PTI’s announcement, backed by PTI Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, suspending Sher Afzal Marwat’s party membership. However, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan dismissed the suspension as “fake,” stating that it was not valid.
The PTI leadership had been divided over the decision to suspend Marwat’s basic party membership. The notification had suggested that if Marwat was honorable, he should resign from his National Assembly seat, won as a PTI candidate, and seek re-election.
It’s important to mention that Marwat had received a show-cause notice on May 11 for breaching the party’s code of conduct and policy. The notice, issued by PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, demanded an explanation from Marwat within three days, as his statements were deemed harmful to the party’s reputation.
