Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has rejected threats of governor’s rule amid the ongoing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march. He said the movement was no longer focused on gaining political power. His remarks came as the march entered its seventh day.

Addressing supporters before leaving Charsadda, Sohail Afridi announced the next stage of the party’s mobilisation. He said PTI workers from across Pakistan would gather in Swabi on October 11. The party is also expected to announce its future political strategy on October 13.

Afridi said threats of governor’s rule would not stop him or the party’s supporters. He maintained that their struggle focused on their leader’s rights and the rights of the Pashtun community. He also said he was prepared to make sacrifices for these objectives.

“This is no longer about power or a seat,” Afridi said while addressing the gathering. He also rejected the possibility of being influenced by financial offers. His remarks appeared to target those he accused of trying to pressure the movement.

PTI Long March Reaches Its Seventh Day

Sohail Afridi praised supporters in Charsadda for their participation and enthusiasm. He said their determination remained important to the party’s ongoing political campaign. He urged workers to stay committed to their objectives throughout the march.

The chief minister also insisted that the movement remained peaceful. He said PTI would continue its political activities within constitutional and legal limits. “We are peaceful and will remain peaceful, but we will not compromise on our rights,” he said.

The planned gathering in Swabi is expected to bring together PTI supporters from different parts of the country. The party’s October 13 announcement could clarify its next steps. However, the details of its future strategy have not yet been announced.

Afridi’s statements come amid political tensions over the possibility of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His remarks indicate that the party intends to continue its mobilisation despite the reported threats.

Afridi Raises Concerns Over KP Security

During his address, Afridi also criticised the authorities’ approach to terrorism and law enforcement. He argued that certain policies had contributed to worsening security conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The chief minister said residents of the province had made major sacrifices to restore peace. However, he claimed their efforts had been undermined by decisions made behind closed doors. These remarks reflected his criticism of the authorities’ handling of security matters.

Afridi urged PTI workers to remain organised and maintain their enthusiasm. He also said the movement would oppose policies he believes harm the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile, Sohail Afridi and PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar Khan reached Main Charsadda Chowk in Mardan. They joined supporters to lead the seventh day of the long march.
