Ahead of PTI Protests, Talal Chaudhry Issues Stark Warning to Govt Staff

Security measures have intensified ahead of PTI protests planned in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as the government prepares for possible unrest. On Tuesday, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry warned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister against using provincial resources for political activity. He said that any misuse of state assets would lead to legal action.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Talal said KP police personnel were being sent to the capital for political purposes. He stated that criminal cases would be filed against any government employee found misusing authority or violating laws. His remarks came ahead of PTI protests outside the Islamabad High Court and Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where party supporters plan to demonstrate over restrictions on Imran Khan’s visitation rights.

Talal stressed that Section 144 was now in force in both cities. He said the measure aimed to protect public life and ensure order. According to him, officials violating the ban on gatherings would face strict action. He also criticised attempts to pressure jail authorities, noting that meeting arrangements for inmates were the responsibility of prison officials alone.

The interior minister clarified that the new Islamabad jail was near completion and was not being built for any specific individual. He also addressed the issue of visas for Imran Khan’s sons, saying the government would issue them within 24 hours once proper documentation was provided.

Talal further spoke about rising security concerns. He said terrorists often use social media apps and VPNs to hide their identities. He added that the interior ministry and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority were working jointly to counter these challenges.

The capital administration has reinforced that Section 144 remains active. It prohibits rallies, protests, and any form of public gathering. Officials warned that police would act immediately against unlawful activities. Authorities advised citizens to avoid restricted zones ahead of PTI protests to ensure public safety.

In Rawalpindi, Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema has also imposed Section 144 from December 1 to 3. Police and other law enforcement agencies remain on high alert as the situation unfolds.
