Afridi's Sarcastic Remark on Shaheen Afridi-Led Lahore Qalandars Goes Viral

During a recent appearance on a private television channel, Pakistani cricketing legend Shahid Afridi didn’t mince his words when commenting on Lahore Qalandars’ performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Afridi’s remark, “Lahore Qalandars have been banged!” highlighted his dissatisfaction with the team’s showing so far.

Adding a layer of irony, Afridi’s son-in-law, Shaheen Shah Afridi, serves as the captain of Lahore Qalandars, intensifying the critique.

While Afridi acknowledged Lahore’s past successes as two-time champions, he urged them to stage a comeback in PSL 9. Drawing inspiration from the resilience of the Australian cricket team, he emphasized the importance of mental toughness in overcoming challenges.

Afridi squarely placed the responsibility for Lahore’s shortcomings on the team management and the captain, asserting that it’s their duty to replicate the performance of previous seasons.

Highlighting the significance of fielding in determining match outcomes, Afridi emphasized, “The team with the best fielding will win PSL.” He lamented the decline in fielding standards witnessed in PSL 9.

Despite being defending champions, Lahore Qalandars’ three consecutive losses have put their playoff hopes in jeopardy. Should their losses persist, they face the risk of elimination in the group stage, dashing their hopes of securing a third consecutive PSL title.

Shaheen Afridi, who assumed Lahore Qalandars’ captaincy before PSL 7, led the team to victory in PSL 7 and PSL 8.
