PTI schedules new intra-party elections for February 5th

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has officially declared its decision to conduct intra-party elections once again on February 5. This move follows a significant setback for the party, as the Supreme Court nullified the results of the initial round, leading to the loss of PTI’s electoral symbol, the ‘bat.’

Rauf Hassan, PTI’s Federal Election Commissioner, released the official schedule for the upcoming intra-party polls, scheduled for the coming Monday. This second attempt aims to showcase transparency to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

All PTI members registered until January 31, 2024, will have the opportunity to cast their votes for their preferred panel or chairman candidate at designated locations nationwide. Additionally, party members can utilize the ‘Raabta Application Intra-Party Election Module’ for voting.

Detailed information about the participating panels, candidates, and the complete polling procedure as per the Election Rules, 2020, will be available on the official PTI website and the Raabta app.

Polling is set to take place on February 5, from 10 am to 5 pm, with the announcement of election venues and the appellate tribunal date expected soon. Nomination papers can be obtained from the party’s central secretariat or official website from February 1 to 2. The deadline for filing nomination papers is February 2, until 10 pm.

Candidates have the option to submit nomination papers at the party’s central and provincial secretariats or digitally through e-mail. The scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled for February 3, with an opportunity for appeals until 10 pm on the same day.

The lists of contesting panels will be published on February 4 at 4 pm on the website, and the official results of the intra-party polls are anticipated to be released on February 6.
