Push for Strengthening Trade Relations with the US

WASHINGTON: Ambassador Masood Khan delivered a pivotal testimony before the US International Trade Commission (ITC), underscoring the critical importance of Pakistan’s apparel sector and advocating for strengthened trade relations with the United States.

 

In 2022, the US retained its position as Pakistan’s largest goods export market, with a total of $6 billion in exports, marking a notable 13.5 per cent increase from the previous year. As one of Pakistan’s primary trading partners, the US also remains a key source of foreign direct investment for the country.

During his address at the ITC’s public hearing on Monday, Ambassador Khan highlighted the remarkable growth of Pakistan’s apparel sector, showcasing a remarkable 54.4pc surge in textiles and apparel exports to $19.3bn in 2021-22.

“Embarking on a significant transformation, Pakistan’s apparel sector is strategically positioning itself for substantial growth in exports,” he remarked.
