Maria Jose Unda, the coordinator of international relations for the Miss Universe Organisation, confirmed that they are in the process of selecting a candidate to represent Saudi Arabia, with a decision expected very soon. This announcement follows the buzz created by Saudi model Rumy al-Qahtani, who claimed to have been selected to represent Saudi Arabia at Miss Universe in a social media post.
However, Miss Universe clarified shortly after Qahtani’s announcement that no selection process had taken place in Saudi Arabia, labeling her post as “false and misleading.” Despite this, Qahtani stated that negotiations were ongoing for her participation and hoped for a positive outcome.
