Shoaib Malik Tops PSL 9 with Best Economy Rate at age 42

Shoaib Malik’s effective bowling performances in the current Pakistan Super League have been instrumental in Karachi Kings’ success, particularly in the powerplay overs and against left-handed batsmen. The seasoned all-rounder has consistently maintained an economical bowling rate throughout the ongoing PSL 9 season.

At 42 years old, Malik has bowled 12 overs with an impressive economy rate of 6.25, which stands as the best among all bowlers in PSL 2024.

Additionally, the spin duo of Shadab Khan and Salman Ali Agha from Islamabad United, along with Multan Sultans’ leading wicket-taker, Usama Mir, have also showcased commendable economy rates this season.

Akeal Hossein, the West Indian spinner representing Quetta Gladiators, has similarly demonstrated economic bowling, boasting a rate of 7.55 and securing 8 wickets in his 20 overs during the current PSL season.

Moreover, Shoaib Malik’s contributions haven’t been limited to his bowling prowess alone. He has also made significant contributions with the bat, accumulating 177 runs across 6 innings for Karachi Kings in PSL season 9.

While spinners have dominated the wickets column this season, with players like Usama Mir, Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, and Akeal Hossein among the top wicket-takers, Malik’s impact on the game has been notable in terms of his economic bowling performances.
