Seville, Spain β Real Betis have finalised the permanent signing of Brazilian winger Antony from Manchester United. The move, completed on September 1, 2025, came just before the transfer deadline and marks a new chapter for the 25-year-old.
The transfer was made for approximately β¬25 million, including add-ons. A 50% net sell-on clause was included, meaning United stand to gain from any future sale. There was no payout to Antony from Manchester United.
The player originally joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2022 for a record fee of around β¬81 million. Yet, he struggled to deliver on that price tag, scoring only five Premier League goals in 62 appearances.
A mid-season loan to Real Betis in January changed the narrative. Antony rediscovered his form by scoring nine goals in all competitions and providing key contributions to Betisβs European campaign.
This transfer is part of a broader squad overhaul at Manchester United. Alongside Antony, striker Rasmus Hojlund joined Napoli on loan, while Marcus Rashford was sent to Barcelona. Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho are also exploring options to exit.
At Betis, Antony has the chance to build on his promising loan spell. The permanent move offers stability and a fresh start in a league where he has begun to thrive. His resurgence in Seville underscores how a player can bounce back when given the right environment.
