In a candid interview, former Pakistan captain and current Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam addressed various questions regarding his future in T20 internationals, his team’s performance in the ongoing HBL PSL 10, and public scrutiny over his strike rate.
Babar, who has faced increasing speculation about his place in Pakistan’s T20 squad, acknowledged that his future is in the hands of the selectors. “My job is to perform—whether it’s in T20s, ODIs, or Tests,” he said, adding that he will continue playing for as long as Allah wills. He also confirmed that he had been informed of being rested from recent T20 fixtures, leaving the final decision to the team’s management.

Reflecting on his team’s performance in PSL 10, Babar admitted that Peshawar Zalmi’s inconsistency had hindered their progress. Despite securing two victories, he pointed out that maintaining consistency and improving fielding were key areas for improvement.
Addressing the frequent criticism of his strike rate, Babar defended his approach, stating that he plays according to the needs of the team and match situations. He also spoke about his adaptability in the batting order, mentioning how he has batted in various positions, ranging from number six to opening, in both Tests and T20s.
On his performance in ODIs, Babar emphasized his love for the format, stating that despite the aggressive nature of T20s, ODIs test patience and remain highly valuable. He also praised the Pakistan Super League, calling it a world-class competition with top-quality fast bowlers.
