Boniface Joins Werder Bremen on Season-Long Loan

Boniface to Werder Bremen

Victor Boniface has completed a loan move to Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen for the 2025–26 season. The striker, known for his strength and sharp finishing, is looking to restart his career after a difficult summer.

The deal comes after several failed transfer attempts. Earlier this year, a move to Saudi Arabia collapsed despite a big offer. Later in the summer, a proposed transfer to AC Milan fell apart when the forward did not pass a medical. With options running out, Bremen stepped in and secured him on loan.

Coaching staff at Bremen believe Boniface can add much-needed power and goals to their attack. The player himself said he felt good during talks with the club and was happy to join. He explained that a quick phone call from a former teammate, who spoke positively about Bremen, gave him extra confidence to make the move.

Leverkusen confirmed that competition for the striker position was tough. The club felt a loan would give Boniface a better chance to get regular minutes and rebuild his form.

The Nigerian forward was one of the stars of the Bundesliga in the 2023–24 season. He scored 14 goals and provided nine assists in just 23 league matches, helping Leverkusen finish unbeaten and win the league and cup double. Last season, however, injuries and competition limited his role.

At Bremen, Boniface will be expected to lead the attack and provide experience to a young squad. Supporters are hopeful that he will regain his top form and make an immediate impact. The move offers him a fresh start in Germany and another chance to prove himself at the highest level.

The loan is seen as a smart decision for all sides. Bremen get a proven striker, while Boniface gets valuable game time to rebuild his confidence.
