The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially acknowledged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for successfully organizing the Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which concluded on Sunday.
This tournament marked the return of the prestigious event after eight years and was the first ICC-hosted competition in Pakistan since 1996.

Featuring eight teams, the competition included 15 matches played in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi from February 19 to March 9. However, the eventual winners, India, played all their matches in Dubai, a decision that sparked controversy.
In an official statement on the ICC website, Chief Executive Geoff Allardice praised the PCB for its efforts in hosting the event. He highlighted the successful renovation of key stadiums and the preparation of high-quality pitches.
“We extend our gratitude and congratulations to the Pakistan Cricket Board for hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025,” Allardice stated.
“As the first multi-team global event held in Pakistan since 1996, this tournament was a major achievement for the PCB. Everyone involved in stadium upgrades, pitch preparations, and match arrangements should take pride in their efforts.”
Additionally, Allardice acknowledged the Emirates Cricket Board for hosting five matches in Dubai and recognized their continued support in organizing ICC events.
Meanwhile, ICC Chairman Jay Shah thanked the participating teams, fans, and stakeholders for their contributions to the tournament’s success.
However, his statement notably omitted any mention of Pakistan as the host nation, a move that drew widespread criticism on X (formerly Twitter).
