This announcement comes after the Pakistani authorities closed schools and postponed exams due to the Indian strikes that killed 26 people on May 7. India’s attack, which followed the Pahalgam incident, was condemned by Pakistan, which denied involvement and called for an international investigation.

India launched missile strikes early on May 7, targeting six locations across Punjab and Azad Kashmir. The attacks resulted in 26 fatalities and 46 injuries, according to DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry. He highlighted the deliberate targeting of mosques in Muzaffarabad and Muridke, as well as the deaths of a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy in Kotli. Sialkot and Shakargarh were fortunately unaffected.

Chaudhry also condemned the attack in Ahmedpur Sharqia, where 13 people were martyred. In retaliation, Pakistan’s armed forces swiftly responded, shooting down five Indian aircraft and one drone, while ensuring the safety of all Pakistan Air Force assets. The military’s response to India’s unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) has been described as effective and decisive.
