The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to extend Tim Nielsen’s contract as assistant coach ahead of the Test series against South Africa starting December 26. Nielsen’s short-term deal concluded after the Australia tour, where he was hopeful of an extension due to the team’s progress under his guidance.

The decision was reportedly made without input from head coach Jason Gillespie, who is now reconsidering his role with the team. Nielsen’s non-resident status in Pakistan is believed to have influenced the PCB’s move, aligning with their preference for local coaching staff.
This follows a similar instance with Gary Kirsten, who resigned earlier due to challenges adapting to the system. The PCB has yet to announce a replacement for Nielsen.
