Pakistan Champions’ veteran off-spinner Saeed Ajmal made history on Tuesday with a record-breaking bowling performance in the World Championship of Legends (WCL).
Ajmal produced a match-winning spell of 6 wickets for just 16 runs in 3.5 overs. His exceptional figures came against Australian champions during a league-stage match at Grace Road, Leicester.
With this performance, Ajmal now holds the record for the best bowling figures in WCL history. He also became the first player in the tournament to claim a five-wicket haul.
The previous best figures in the WCL belonged to Fidel Edwards of the West Indies Champions. Edwards had recorded 4/11 against the England Champions earlier in the tournament.
Ajmal began his spell by striking in the sixth over. He removed Ben Dunk, who top-scored for the Australia Champions with 26 runs off 14 balls. They oversaw Ajmal pick up two more wickets, putting the Pakistan Champions in complete control.
He returned in his next over to dismiss Ben Cutting, taking his tally to four wickets. Ajmal made history in his final over by claiming two more scalps. He dismissed Peter Siddle, caught by Shoaib Malik, and Steve O’Keefe on the next ball.
Australia’s Champions were bowled out for only 74 runs in 9.5 overs. Saeed Ajmal’s 6/16 are now officially the best figures in WCL to date.

In reply, the Pakistan Champions chased the target without any trouble. Openers Sharjeel Khan and Sohaib Maqsood led the way, scoring 32* and 28*, respectively.
The team won by 10 wickets with 73 balls to spare, securing a dominant victory.
Saeed Ajmal’s performance not only won the match for his side but also etched his name in WCL history books.
