In a historic performance during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia Pacific Qualifier A match on Tuesday, Samoa Visser set a new record by scoring 39 runs in a single over.
Playing at Garden Oval in Samoa, Visser faced Vanuatu’s Nalin Nipiko and hit six consecutive sixes, capitalizing on three no-balls in the over.

This remarkable achievement broke the previous record of 36 runs set by Yuvraj Singh, who had hit six sixes off Stuart Broad in the inaugural Men’s T20 World Cup.
Alongside setting a new T20 World Cup record, Darius Visser also achieved his first international century.
Visser scored a notable 132 runs off 62 balls, including 14 sixes and five fours, leading Samoa to a total of 174 in their 20 overs. Vanuatu’s response fell short at 164/9, trailing by 10 runs.
Visser was aggressive throughout, hitting a hat-trick of sixes in the 15th over from Nalin Nipiko to reach his fifty off 35 balls. After a no-ball, Visser took advantage, hitting the free hit over square leg for another six. Following a dot ball, Nipiko overstepped again, and Visser cleared the fence for another six. A final no-ball enabled Visser to hit the last delivery of the over over the leg side for his sixth six.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has seen numerous batting records, with India’s Virat Kohli leading with 1,292 runs at an average of 58.72 and 15 half-centuries.
Rohit Sharma is second with 1,220 runs, while England’s Jos Buttler holds the record for the highest individual score with an unbeaten 123 against Bangladesh in 2012, and the highest career strike rate of 147.23 among batters with at least 500 balls faced.
