Steve Smith has announced his retirement from ODIs following Australia’s exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The 34-year-old, who scored 73 in the semifinal loss to India, ends his 155-match career with over 5,300 runs and 12 centuries.

A key figure in Australia’s 2015 and 2023 World Cup wins, Smith will now focus on Test cricket and T20Is. “It’s the right time to make way for the next generation,” he said, shifting his sights to the World Test Championship Final.
