Former England fast bowler Darren Gough has been named the head coach of Lahore Qalandars for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, the franchise announced on Wednesday. Gough, 54, is returning to the Qalandars after leading the team to the finals of the Global Super League last year, making his appointment a significant addition to Pakistan’s premier T20 competition.
Gough, who holds the record for most One Day International wickets for England during his career from 1994 to 2006, brings vast international experience to the Qalandars. His post-playing career has seen him transition into leadership roles, including a stint as England’s bowling consultant in 2020 and as Managing Director of Cricket at Yorkshire.

Following the announcement, Gough expressed his excitement for the upcoming season, stating, “The PSL offers an exceptional platform with considerable talent in the Qalandars roster. We aim to deliver competitive cricket this season with the support of our fan base.”
Lahore Qalandars’ Team Director, Sameen Rana, praised Gough’s previous contributions to the franchise, highlighting his successful tenure in the Global Super League as a key factor in his appointment. “His understanding of the team’s culture and his leadership qualities made him the perfect choice for this role,” Rana said.
With the PSL season set to kick off in early 2025, Gough’s appointment comes at an ideal time for the Qalandars to prepare for the tournament, where they will compete against five other franchises in Pakistan’s top cricket league.
