Manchester City’s goalkeeper Ederson is set to make a surprising move to Turkish giants Fenerbache this summer. The transfer is reportedly on the verge of completion after both clubs reached an agreement.
A verbal agreement has been struck between Manchester City and Fenerbache, with the fee estimated at around €13–14 million. Personal terms have also been agreed through Ederson’s agent, while Fenerbache’s sporting director has played a key role in negotiations.
Further reports confirm that Ederson has accepted Fenerbache’s proposal and is close to finalizing the deal. The agreement opens the door for Manchester City to pursue a new goalkeeper.
With Ederson’s exit expected, Manchester City are preparing a medical for Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is set to become the replacement.
Earlier in the summer, Manchester City were unwilling to sell Ederson. Pep Guardiola wanted him to stay as first-choice goalkeeper, even after the signing of James Trafford from Burnley.
Galatasaray had also shown interest and made an initial offer of around €10–15 million. However, City demanded a higher fee and at that stage did not want to lose him.
This transfer marks the end of an era at Manchester City. Ederson has been their number one since 2017, winning multiple league titles and major trophies. His move to Fenerbache highlights both his reputation and the changes taking place in City’s goalkeeping plans.
