Mbappé Trains With Tricolor Mask After Euro 2024 Injury

France captain Kylian Mbappé was seen wearing a tricolore-themed mask during a recent training session after sustaining a nose injury in France’s win over Austria at Euro 2024. The injury occurred when the 25-year-old collided with Austria’s Kevin Danso in the 86th minute of Monday’s match, leading to his substitution due to a broken nose.

Concerns initially arose regarding Mbappé’s availability for France’s upcoming Group D match against the Netherlands on Friday. However, French manager Didier Deschamps reassured reporters on Thursday, stating, “Everything is going in the right direction after this major shock he had.”

After undergoing X-rays at a local hospital, which confirmed the nose fracture, Mbappé has shown signs of recovery. France forward Antoine Griezmann noted, “Kylian is doing well. The swelling has come down on his nose.”

In subsequent training sessions, Mbappé transitioned from wearing plasters to a custom-made mask with his initials. However, UEFA regulations prohibit the use of personalized masks during matches, requiring that medical equipment be single-colored and without team or manufacturer logos.

France and the Netherlands both won their opening Euro 2024 matches, setting the stage for a highly anticipated clash in Group D.
