Guehi Transfer to Liverpool Collapses at Final Hour

Liverpool transfer collapse

The proposed move of Marc Guehi to Liverpool collapsed in dramatic fashion on deadline day. Crystal Palace had accepted a £35 million offer and Guehi even passed part of his medical. However, the transfer fell apart at the last moment.

Palace had planned to bring in Brighton defender Igor Julio as a replacement. That deal failed when Julio chose to join another club instead. With no suitable cover secured, the club pulled the plug on Guehi’s move.

Reports suggest Guehi was moments away from signing for Liverpool and had a farewell video prepared. A private jet was even arranged for his move to Merseyside. Despite this, Palace held firm due to the lack of defensive reinforcements.

Manager Oliver Glasner played a key role in blocking the transfer. He argued that selling the captain without a proper replacement would damage the team. In tense discussions, he even threatened to resign.

Guehi, currently in the final year of his contract, has stayed professional throughout. He played on for Palace despite feeling frustrated and disappointed by the abrupt collapse. His goal now will be to perform on the pitch and keep his options open.

With no deal in place, speculation mounts on what happens next. Liverpool may return in January, when Palace risks losing Guehi for free. Other top clubs across Europe are also monitoring the situation closely.

For now, Guehi remains at Crystal Palace. The club must decide whether to tie him down with a new contract or risk losing him next summer. The summer’s biggest transfer story may not be over yet.
