Imad Wasim's Potential Return from International Retirement

Imad Wasim, the star all-rounder for Islamabad United, delivered a match-winning performance against Quetta Gladiators in a recent PSL match. Following his stellar display, Imad revealed that he received a phone call from Pakistan skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi, who urged him to reconsider his retirement from international cricket.

In a recent interview, Imad disclosed that Shaheen had reached out to him before the PSL to discuss certain matters. However, Imad preferred to defer the discussion regarding his retirement and suggested addressing it after the conclusion of the league.

While Imad didn’t explicitly mention whether he would revoke his retirement, he expressed his willingness to serve Pakistan if needed. He emphasized his deep-rooted connection to representing Pakistan and stated that if the national team requires his services, he would readily make himself available.

Imad’s absence from the ICC ODI World Cup Squad last year was notable, as he hadn’t played any one-day matches throughout the calendar year. However, he has showcased glimpses of his capabilities in this PSL season, contributing with both bat and ball. His performances, including a quickfire 30 runs against Multan Sultans and a three-wicket haul against Quetta Gladiators, have been noteworthy.

With the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled for June, Imad’s familiarity with the pitches in the Caribbean and the USA could make him a valuable asset for Pakistan’s squad. Considering his recent form and potential contributions, the Pakistan Cricket Board might consider including him in the squad for the tournament.
