Liverpool Edge Newcastle in Dramatic 3‑2 Win

Liverpool win

Liverpool claimed a thrilling 3‑2 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park. It was a tense and emotional night for both sides. Liverpool showed grit to secure the win.

The Reds took an early lead through Ryan Gravenberch. He struck from distance in the 35th minute. Liverpool then extended their lead just after half-time thanks to Hugo Ekitike. At that point, it looked like a comfortable win.

But the drama was far from over. Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon was sent off for a tackle on Virgil van Dijk just before half-time. Still, Newcastle fought back. Bruno Guimarães found the net in the second half. Then substitute William Osula scored the equaliser late on.

The match seemed headed for a draw. Then came a moment of magic. In the 100th minute, 16‑year‑old Rio Ngumoha, on his Premier League debut, scored a stunning winner. His goal sealed a remarkable comeback win for the club.

Clubs’s manager praised the team’s mental strength. He said their mindset in a hostile stadium was crucial. Despite poor overall quality, they showed the attitude needed to win.

Ngumoha made history that night. At just 16, he became the club’s youngest ever scorer. He joined an elite list by being only the second 16‑year‑old in Premier League history to score a winning goal, after Wayne Rooney.

Newcastle, even with ten men, pushed Liverpool all the way. Yet Liverpool found a way to win. The result highlights their resilience at this season’s start.

The club now maintain a perfect record alongside fellow title contenders. Their performance was messy but effective. The win sends a strong message that Liverpool can defy pressure when it matters most.
