Manchester United have signed Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. The deal is worth around £18.1 million plus add-ons. He has agreed to a five-year contract with the club.
At just 23 years old, Lammens is viewed as a strong long-term option. He will join a goalkeeping unit that already includes André Onana, Altay Bayındır, and Tom Heaton.
Manchester United decided to act after recent goalkeeping mistakes. Onana was blamed for two goals in a League Cup shock defeat. Bayındır also made an error in a narrow league win. These moments raised concerns about the team’s stability in goal.
Lammens made his name at Antwerp with consistent performances. He recorded 12 clean sheets in 60 appearances. The Belgian was linked with several clubs, but Manchester United moved quickly to secure him.
Manager Ruben Amorim highlighted the importance of depth in the goalkeeping department. Onana may be unavailable during the Africa Cup of Nations, leaving the team short of options. Lammens is expected to provide more reliability.
The young goalkeeper expressed his happiness after signing. He described the transfer as a dream move and praised the atmosphere at the club. Lammens is now focused on helping Manchester United compete on all fronts this season.
The signing forms part of a wider summer rebuild. Manchester United have strengthened both their attack and defense, aiming for a stronger campaign.
