Manchester United Close to Signing Belgian Goalkeeper Senne Lammens

Manchester United are close to completing the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. The deal is expected to cost around £17 to £17.3 million. Personal terms have already been agreed, but the final confirmation is still pending.

Lammens, who is 23 years old, is not seen as an immediate replacement for André Onana. Instead, Manchester United see him as a long-term addition to strengthen their goalkeeping options. Lammens is known for his quick reactions, confidence, and consistent performances.

Last season, he made over 40 appearances, recorded 10 clean sheets, and made more than 170 saves. His strong performances caught the attention of many clubs, but Manchester United have moved fastest in the race to sign him.

The club’s coaching team believes Lammens can grow into a first-team player in the future. Although Onana’s position has faced criticism, Lammens’ arrival does not necessarily mean a change is coming right away.

Lammens began his career at Club Brugge before joining Antwerp in 2023. He made his senior debut in the Belgian Supercup and quickly became a key player. He has represented Belgium at every youth level and received his first senior call-up earlier this year.

Several top clubs from England and Europe have also shown interest in Lammens. Despite that, Manchester United’s project and global profile could be strong factors in finalizing the transfer.

In a recent statement, Lammens described the interest from Manchester United as “special” and called the club “one of the best.” However, he added that he would make his final decision based on the project and opportunity provided by the team.

Manchester United are expected to make an official announcement soon if no last-minute issues arise.
